Freshly prepared local food

Dining Room

In 2007, we recruited local head chef, Donald Munro, who subsequently persuaded his son Andrew to leave the fine dining hotel restaurants of St Andrews to join him at the Ulbster Arms Hotel. Working closely together, they prepare menus each day, reflecting local seasonal fresh produce. If you have been lucky enough on the River, they can even cook your catch for dinner.

Meticulous refurbishment of our Dining Room has further enhanced the superior dining experience. Beautiful muted shades by Farrow and Ball, compliment the mixture of new and antique pieces, such as the stunning antler chandeliers and centuries old portraits, adding grandeur to this classic and charismatic room.

After dinner, why not relax over coffee and home made petit fours, or retreat to the Angler's Nook for a wee dram.

Local Produce

The Ulbster Arms Hotel prides itself on using only the best local produce and our seasonal menu's reflect this. Guests are encouraged to make special requests, and should you wish to try some of the wonderful variety of freshly available local seafood, such as halibut, scallops, lobster or langoustines, we will endeavor to source these from local fishing boats who land at nearby harbours.

Mey Select beef, lamb and pork feature regularly in our menu's, reared locally and raised on the lush, green pastures between sea and moorland, are second to none in quality and flavour. Venison and game from the hills and moors beyond are also readily available.

A plentiful, local supply of fruit and vegetables ensures that we can always put the freshest of accompaniments to your meal, on the table.

Breakfasts, lunches and dinners are served each day in our dining room. On Sunday, we serve a special carvery, throughout the day, which has proven very popular for family get togethers and celebrations.
