We’ve got a range of hotel accommodation options at the Ulbster Arms Hotel in Caithness, Scotland. All are available on a bed-and-breakfast basis, plus we have a fantastic hotel restaurant for lunch and dinner. Whether you’re travelling the NC500 or looking for the perfect place for your next staycation, our hotel should be top of your list. You’ll enjoy a good night’s sleep and a hearty meal, plus our location makes this the ideal jumping-off point for exploring everything Caithness and Sutherland have to offer.
Our main hotel building has 13 ensuite bedrooms, many of which overlook the River Thurso or Halkirk Church and clock tower. This is our traditional Scottish hotel offering, located in a beautiful 19th-century building. We also have 3 separate buildings on our grounds, which offer an additional 16 hotel rooms with contemporary interiors. All rooms include breakfast as standard, served in the main hotel building. Breakfast is the full Scottish number, as well as fresh fruit, juice, yoghurt and cereal. We have a private car park located to the rear of the hotel, free for all guests.

Dale Double | Dale Family
Our Dale Rooms provide a comfortable accommodation option in our lovely Dale building, set in a secluded area of our grounds. These hotel rooms feature contemporary design and are perfect for exploring the NC500 in style! Choose from one of our seven small Dale Doubles, ideal for corporate travellers to Caithness and Thurso, or enjoy a family holiday in one of our two Dale Family Rooms. Each family room includes a double bed and a single bed, along with an ensuite bath or shower room. Amenities include a flat-screen TV, high-speed free Wi-Fi, complimentary toiletries, and tea/coffee-making facilities with locally baked biscuits.

Our Executive Rooms are upgraded rooms located in our stunning, secluded Milton and Ulbster buildings. Select from our 5 Executive Doubles, 1 large Executive Double and 1 Executive Twin. Each enjoys an ensuite bath and/or shower room. Dale Family | Premium Family
We have 2 spacious and more secluded Caithness family hotel rooms in our Dale building. Set on our private hotel grounds the Dale Rooms offer a more tranquil escape, ideal for families with young ones. Book our Dale Family hotel room or Premium Family Room within the Dale building, and enjoy a double bed and a single bed with ensuite. Cots, high chairs and provisions are available on request from the main hotel building. We are ideally situated for family holidays to Caithness to explore the NC500, John o’ Groats, Orkney and Thurso. Plus we have dog-friendly hotel rooms so you can bring all the family on holiday! Ulbster Rooms| Milton Rooms
Our Ulbster Rooms and Milton Rooms are situated in separate buildings on our private grounds. Ideal for a more tranquil Highland escape when visiting the North Coast 500. These are also available for exclusive group bookings of 6 or 8 people. Being separate from the main hotel building, they offer a home-from-home hotel experience.
