Find your perfect spot for a refreshing drink

We serve a large selection of spirits, lager, cider, beer and cask ales from our bar, including locally produced whisky from Old Pulteney and Wolfburn Distilleries, North Point Distillery gin and rum and Dunnet Bay Distillers gin and vodka. For an extra-special journey around our local distilleries, why not book one of our Caithness drinks flight experiences?

The Lounge Bar

Open 11:00 until late, our traditional lounge bar has an intimate atmosphere downstairs in the main bar area. The Dutch galleon ship fireplace ensures you’re kept warm in all seasons, and our spacious booth seating is designed to let you settle in and relax. The lounge bar continues upstairs, which offers a more airy setting in which to enjoy your drink of choice.

Library

Open all day, the library features an open fire with several comfortable seating areas. Traditionally decorated with a sporting theme, this room offers a relaxing space in which to enjoy a coffee with friends, unwind at the end of a busy day or sample a nightcap after dinner.

A collection of books and magazines is available for guests to browse or borrow during their stay. In the library you can also view the honours board, which tells the history of who opened the river each season, who caught the first and heaviest fish of the season (and their respective weights), as well as the beat they were fished from.

Beer garden and marquee

Beer garden open 11:00 until 23:00; marquee open late spring and throughout the summer, from 12:00 until 23:00.

From late spring and throughout summer you can enjoy a drink in our marquee or beer garden. Go fully alfresco in the beer garden, which is perfectly sheltered from the wind but not the sun! For damp days, you might prefer the marquee, which is a large, relaxed zone with its own small bar and wooden tables that seat up to eight people.
